Octahedral and Tetrahedral Sites

"Octahedral site" means that the nearest neighbors around that site make an eight-faced regular polyhedron, (octahedron) as illustrated on the left hand side. The blue atom is in the octahedral site.

A "tetrahedral site" is similar, except the nearest neighbors make a tetrahedron (see the right hand side).
