In the polymeric AC60 the buckyballs move closer to each other along a (randomly) selected face diagonal of the cube. The result is illustrated in the picture on the right. This is now an orthorhombic structure. Take a look at this "distorted cube" from the three principal directions (use the pre-set viewpoints offered by many of the VRML viewers).
