Landau Levels

This JAVA applet shows:

• Landau cylinders in reciprocal space. Each cylinder extends to infinity in both directions along the k_z axis, but only portions inside the Fermi sphere at T = 0 are shown. Electron energy varies with k_z on each cylinder. A circle around any cylinder is a line of constant energy.
• A plane of reciprocal space normal to an applied magnetic field. Black lines are circumferences of Landau cylinders.
• Low-lying energy levels for a free electron in a magnetic field.

The following parameters can be modified:

• The magnetic induction B
